We chose the name Southwind Collective because we knew we had big ideas and a network of professionals we have worked with for over two decades.
"Southwind" is a nod to our Kansas heritage — I am a 5th-generation Kansan. It is our influence. What I like best about "wind" is that it has always meant change, direction, and resilience. But collective — and not "group" or "consortium," both of which we considered — meant something different.
A Collective Means No Lone Geniuses
We are not a bunch of ego-driven gurus in siloed departments. Southwind Collective is not a hierarchy — it is a collaboration. We know the right people for the work, and we bring them in for the right project. One of our main focuses is coalition-building — so we figured, why not practice what we preach within our own collective?
A Collective Means Shared Credit
Our best work happens when our clients are also our partners — part of the process from day one. Whether we are supporting a statewide initiative, a local candidate, or a rural coalition applying for broadband funding, success should reflect everyone who made it happen. We are not shy about sharing the credit.
A Collective Means Kansas Values
To us, collective is a powerful word. If it were a wall sign, ours would read:
- Generosity over ego
- Work over show
- People over process
We are here to build long-term partnerships, solve real-world problems, and make sure our state — your state — is better off for it.
We chose Southwind Collective because we believe the future belongs to people who work together. That is what we bring to every project — and what we hope to build: one idea, one partner, one community at a time.
